About

Our Church family has been exploring and experiencing The Great Commission over the last several years. It’s a part of our identity as who we are as followers of Jesus. Practicing this life together includes a discipleship making gospel which calls followers to action by being and making disciples. We believe the gospel is this:

The Kingdom of God has come through Jesus of Nazareth. He is Christ, the King, God’s one and only Son. He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day according to the Scriptures. In his great love and by his amazing grace, God our Father saves everyone who repents of their sin, believes the gospel, and follows Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit.

When King Jesus returns on the last day, the great Day of Judgment, everyone who followed him will enter the eternal kingdom of God.

Mission

“LOVE GOD. LOVE OTHERS. MAKE
DISCIPLES.”

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” –
(Jesus, Matt. 28:19-20 NIV, emphasis added)

Vision

“Impacting Generations by living and sharing the Gospel of God’s Kingdom.”

“Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”

– (Ps. 71:17,18 NIV, emphasis added)

Our Staff

Tom Sprowls Jr.

Lead Pastor

About Tom

I’m Tom Sprowls, Jr. and I’ve been the Lead Pastor of the Berlin Brethren Church since 2008.

My passion is to teach others what God has had me experience with Him. I focus on Biblical teaching and preaching on God’s Kingdom and how we are to operate in God’s Kingdom authority as a disciple of Jesus. I have experienced that people grow best in their walk with Jesus by doing so spending time with other like-minded disciples. Being in relationship with other disciples helps heal, strengthen, and protect us. Jesus calls us to follow Him and we do that by living and loving like Him in obedience to His commandments. We say, “Stay dusty following Jesus.”

My wife, Debbie, and I are the proud parents of three grown, married children and four grandchildren. And we can’t help but have fun and joy with our grandchildren.

Luke Dowdy

Youth Pastor

About Luke

Luke is a full-time Youth and Worship Pastor at the Berlin Brethren Church and his wife, Amanda, works alongside him as a volunteer youth worker and full-time shenanigan-mediator. They have been serving in Berlin since 2010. They have two children, Isaac and Hadassah, who love the outdoors, music, sports, and creative arts.

Luke is a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates fan, Star Wars aficionado, archeology nut, avid board game junkie, and movie critic. Most of all, Luke’s passion is Jesus centered youth ministry, which explores ways to read the entire Bible through the lens of the person and work of Jesus. The Bible is not a loose connection of unrelated stories. Everything either prepares the way for Jesus or explains how to process and live in light of what he did on the cross.
